Creating and Linking Your Tesla Account

Your Tesla Account includes owner resources, guides, and important updates. Combined with the Tesla app, you can do everything from remotely monitoring your solar production and Powerwall battery to transferring ownership if you sell your home.

For new energy customers, your Tesla system must be linked to your Tesla Account so you can see system performance, manage settings, and receive important firmware updates.

Creating Your Tesla Account

When you place your first order, you’ll be asked to create a password for your Tesla Account if you haven’t created an account yet. Your email address is the email you used to place your order and your password is the password you created after submitting your order.

Linking Your Tesla Account

Once your account exists, your Tesla Energy system will be registered during the commissioning process on installation day:

  • If you are available at the installation:
    • The installer will invite you to claim your system using your cellphone and the Tesla app.
    • You may be shown a code on the installer’s screen or receive a text with a code.
    • Enter this code in your Tesla app under Add Products to link your new system.
  • If you are not available at the installation:
    • The installer can complete the registration on your behalf.
    • They will use the email address you provided—this must match the email address of your Tesla Account.
    • When you log into your Tesla app, your system will appear once registration is complete.
